1 in 4 women may be sexually assaulted at some point in their lives, but sexual assault is more than just a number. Sexual assault is an Equal Opportunity crime that does not limit itself to certain communities.
the singular narrative
The narrative around sexual violence on college campuses has largely been focused on the experiences of white women, excluding other demographics that are disproportionately affected by this issue. Meanwhile women of color as well as queer, transgender, and disabled folks are disproportionately affected by this crime. It is important that we move beyond this narrative to begin fully addressing the violence on our campus.
